University of Houston Clear Lake

School of Business

The University of Houston Clear Lake offers three different programs in accounting for those who are interested in entering the accounting field. All of these programs will teach students the skills they need to succeed in the workplace and to be able to adapt to an ever-changing workplace. Internships and co-op programs are available to enhance classroom learning and helps to give students real world experiences before entering into the workforce as an accountant. Master of Science in Accounting

Students who choose to get into the accounting program at the University of Houston Clear Lake can choose to get their master’s degree in accounting. The Graduate School

Though the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor doesn’t have the largest graduate school in the state, it does offer one of the accredited accounting degree programs in Texas. In addition to the accounting program, the Graduate School offers a number of other graduate degrees as well as a Ph.D. program. Master of Science in Accounting

One of the accredited accounting degree programs in Texas offered at the College of Business is the master’s degree in accounting. There are two different concentration options available with this degree program. The first is auditing, the second is management and entrepreneurial. Both programs are ideal for those who have been working in the business field or for those who are fresh from an undergraduate program in business. However, students who do not have a background in business can still pursue these degrees as the school offers core courses to help students prepare for the master’s program. In order to complete the program, students will need to complete 19 credit hours unless they need core credits, which will take it up to 32 to 35 credit hours to complete. Most students can complete the program in a year. Those who need the core classes will usually take two years to complete their degree program. Upon graduation, students will be prepared to sit for the CPA exam or enter directly into the workforce.

Master of Science in Taxation

The other program that is available from the University of North Texas is a master’s in taxation. This is an ideal program for those who are interested in a career focused on taxes as a public accountant in industry, government or corporations. Students with this degree often go on to become tax specialists and focus on taxation throughout their careers.
In order to successfully graduate with this degree, students will need to earn a minimum of 19 credit hours, generally done within a year. This is only possible, however, if students already have an undergraduate degree in accounting or a similar field. For those who do not, the university offers core courses that students can take for a year followed by the taxation courses. This is perfect for those interested in getting into taxation from another field.

Master of Professional Accountancy

One of the with accredited accounting degree programs in Texas available from the University of Texas Arlington is the MPA. This is a degree that is designed for those in any undergraduate degree except accounting. Upon completing this degree, students will often find work in a number of industries, the government and even in public accounting with additional coursework. In order to earn the MPA, students will need to complete a minimum of 42 credit hours. These hours are made up of 24 credit hours of accounting courses, six elective and 12 credits of business. The MSA will help to prepare students for a career in accounting as part of public organizations, the government, non-profits or small business. This is the program that most people seeking a CPA license will also pursue as it will fully prepare students to take that test. This degree has been designed for individual who already have an undergraduate degree in business or accounting and wish to continue their education. In order to successfully graduate with an MSA, students will need to complete 36 credit hours of coursework. This is made up of 18 credit hours in accounting, 6 credits of accounting electives and 12 credits of business electives. It is possible that some of the required accounting credits could have been taken as an undergrad and in that case, the students would be exempt from taking them again.

Naveen Jindal School of Management

The Naveen Jindal School of Management is the largest business school in the University of Texas system. There are almost 7000 students, half of which, are graduate students. The school prides itself on offering students a good value for their money, a large number of classes to choose from, flexible schedules and a convenient location.
